Maternity Sessions are really so amazing.  Such a favorite session of mine.  Suzanne & Matthews maternity session was no exception.  It was amazing.  Simply magical.

When a clients scheduled a maternity session, you are documenting the amazing journey into parenthood.  When I meet expectant parents for the first time we chat about the new baby that will be joining their family.  Seeing the joy on their faces when talking about their baby is simply beautiful. Learning their story and being apart of this special life moment.

Prior to the session my expectant mamas will come in by appointment to look through and try on gowns from my maternity wardrobe.   Melissa Hartigan Photography has a beautiful maternity wardrobe which is available for use to all expecting mamas. I encourage the use of at least one gown. There are so many colors and styles to choose from.  Each gown was chosen to accentuate the pregnant body, showing off that gorgeous baby bump.

When it comes to the session I love capturing the love between my clients.  To capture the joy and excitement they feel for one another and the baby mom is growing in her belly. These images are meant to be treasured, ones to be kept and looked back on many many years from now. To show your baby what he or she looked like when they were growing in your belly. With each click of my shutter my goal is to capture their connection and love.   I want the emotion they feel for each other to be captured in their images. Of course I will help them pose, help with hand placement and so on, but then I let them be.

Throughout the session I encourage my clients to think about baby.  To think about holding baby for the first time. To think about what he or she will look like. When they do this the emotions that come forward are simply amazing.

Suzanne and Mathew were so amazing to work with considering how terribly cold it was on the day of our session.  Suzanne really wanted outdoors so out into the cold we went. We also did a beautiful in studio session as well, I cannot wait to meet their sweet little one next month, he is due on my birthday 🙂
