Hello! Thank you for visiting Melissa Hartigan Photography and viewing my most recent blog post, CT Maternity & Newborn Photographer | Chase Maternity & Newborn Session. For those who are new to my blog, I’m a CT Photographer specializing in newborn and maternity photography. I love being a professional photographer and capturing my clients stories, emotions and freezing their moments in time, it really does bring me so much joy. I am so happy to be a part of these families special time and truly hope you enjoy this recent post. Here is a little peek into a recent maternity session with Mommy-to-Be Carrie and a newborn session her little one Chase.

Carrie’s Maternity Session

Maternity Sessions are a wonderful way to celebrate bringing a baby into the world! As a CT Maternity & Newborn Photographer are among my favorite sessions to do. When a client schedules a maternity session, you are documenting the amazing journey into parenthood.  When I meet expectant parents for the first time we chat about the new baby that will be joining their family.  Seeing the joy on their faces when talking about their baby is simply beautiful. Learning their story and being apart of this special life moment brings me happiness.

What to expect before your session

Prior to the session my expectant mamas will come in by appointment to look through and try on gowns from my maternity wardrobe. Melissa Hartigan Photography has a beautiful maternity wardrobe which is available for use to all expecting mamas. I encourage the use of at least one gown.  When I met with Carrie back in June at my studio in Coventry CT, we went over the session options and she tried on gowns to find ones that she loved. There are so many colors and styles to choose from.  Gowns chosen will accentuate the pregnant body, showing off that gorgeous baby bump.

What to expect during your session

When it comes to the session, I love capturing the love between my clients and their joy and excitement for the baby mom is growing in her belly. The images are meant to be treasured. Ones to be kept and looked back on for many years to come. They are meant to show your new baby what he or she looked like when they were growing in your belly, trust me they will ask!  During the session, I will help you pose, help with hand placement and so on, but then I let you be. This is when the true feelings emerge and I capture the best images.

Throughout the session I encourage my clients to think about baby and how their life is going to change.  I ask them to think about holding baby for the first time, to think about what he or she will look like. I know as a CT Maternity & Newborn Photographer imagining these things provoke the emotions which are simply amazing. With each click of my shutter my goal is to capture their connection and love.

Carrie and Nick were amazing to work with.  Their outdoor maternity session in South Windsor CT was beautiful, and the love between them was evident. Carrie looked so amazing in my maternity gowns. The amazing outdoor colors and her gown choice made her stand out so beautifully. The photos were so amazing and I couldn’t wait to meet their sweet little boy for his newborn shoot!

Chase’s Newborn Session

When Carrie came in for her initial meeting with me, she decided to book her newborn session with me too! She reserved her due date for her little boy on our calendar.  Clients do this so that once baby is born they can call to schedule their newborn session.  She called me on Thanksgiving to say little Chase was born, so we scheduled her to bring him in on December 5. All newborn sessions take place in my private Coventry CT studio.   The images that we captured during her newborn session are timeless treasures. Chase is such a beautiful baby; I know mom and dad will enjoy looking back at these images over the years!

Manchester CT Newborn Photographer | Recent Newborn Session Peeks

When a new mom contacts me, if they would like, we set up a time to meet in person so that we can sit down and discuss their hopes for their session.  With each and every session I custom design the setups used based on these meetings. I was so honored that I would be the CT newborn photographer to take her beautiful baby’s first professional images. Thank you!

I couldn’t agree more that these colors were perfect with their little baby boy’s skin tone. Carrie trusted me with my creativity for the shoot. Chase was very wide eyed for a good portion of the session, but once he fell asleep we were able to capture some amazing images of him. The props I hand selected worked perfectly for him, he looked especially adorable with his sweet baby knitted hats. Throughout the session I used hats from No.2 Willow lane, Flokatis from Luneberry, knits from Little Beans Creations , and Stuffers from CwtchiCoo.
